conversion of .mod files

Does anyone have ideas to suggest to convert 3d files to .mod format in step?
What program should I use?

It is very simple, just open with catia the .model file, copy it and paste it into a new catpart.
done this.. you carry it in step

Hello victorious,
thank you very much for the quick and precise answer. I renamed the name.mod file in name.model and imported into a product with the command "insert existing component".
an error message appears to me "you cannot perform the reading/writing operation. interrupted loading? ? "
I see it in the logical tree but it doesn't display anything.
I also tried with the original file name.mod but will give back the following error "impossible to insert the files. error during insertion due to the type of extension not valid or inconsistencies. type of extension non-existent or license not guaranteed for this type".
Do you have other roads to go?

in my opinion the *.mod file is not a file of catia v4. in fact they were called *.model
then rename it from *.mod to *.model is not correct
would be like to rename a *.catpart file in *.stp and then try to open it
