hello to all colleagues,
I have a simple question to ask you valid for all modelers in general, but being currently struggling with I create 3.0 place in this section the following:
is it considered correct as a working technique the metal conversion operation from a simple basic extrusion? or is it however to be considered unprofessional and not recommended if not strictly in few and particular circumstances?
I attach two images of the same part created using the two different working methods in sw and creo environment.
thank you in advance for your answers.

we say that starting from a solid, or from an extruded surface, to pass to a sheet, is not a wrong operation, is planned and is often also the only road that can be reached with geometries.

the aspect on which to pay attention with all the cads, is above all on the cutting factor: while with the solid modeling base, the cuts of type extrusion take place according to the plan of sketch, with the modules sheet, these must be perpendicular to the surface, because it is assumed that 90% of the processing, are by means of cutting plate stretched and then bent/printed.

In fact, if you know about creo with the sheet module, you have both sheet-type cuts and solid cuts (for any milling subsequent to the molding cut for example).
for which this must be considered absolutely to the act of conversion.
Finally, be careful that certain solid geometries that involve very small deformation surfaces for straightening the sheet, are not always converted.

In my humble opinion, the conversion of solids/surfaces into sheet metal should be done immediately after the modeling of the main form.

I thank you very much for the very important punctualization of cuts.
hello and good day.

Hi.

if the piece is a minimum complex, I always recommend starting solid. edges, tears etc. are managed better and much more simply.
