copy/paste does not work with some designs

with autocad (both 2000 and 2004) the following problem arises.
in the company we receive drawings from external suppliers, from which we extrapolate the parts that concern by inserting them in our interior designs with simple copy/paste. I do not understand why with some drawings from the outside the copy/paste does not work just. the thing is connected to the starting design coming from the outside, because if I try on others everything works.

What version are the files coming from the outside?

have you installed all service packs for both autocad 2000 and 2004?

copy/paste problem was known for autocad versions 2007 me smebra, 2000 and 2004 I do not remember
