Bye to all,

I have a question about the cost analysis of an injection molded piece (plastic).

do you know if there are tables of parameters (if possible in some official way), which allow to calculate the incidence of the press on the cost of the piece, based on tonnage?
I mean a value or parameter that multiplied by tonnage gives me an idea even of maximum hourly cost.

thanks early for the help,

Hi.

Andrea

from what I know you look at the tonnage of the press to see if there is the mold or not...the cost of the piece varies to the variation of the used press...if for example you put a mold with certain small dimensions in a press with a high tonnage it is obvious that you are losing to print with a smaller mold than the press that has the high tonnage...it seems obvious that everything has to be proportioned. Then for the piece depends that materials you use, and how much the stamping cycle is and how many pieces you will need to print...from you make them a calculation of the hourly cost. in my company it works like this.

absolutely agree.
However, for a maximum hourly cost assessment, I saw a technician from a manufacturer make the following assessment:

e.g. 120 ton press
multiplier: 0.10
estimated time cost: 120 x 0.10 = 12 €/h

Obviously it is a very approximate account. ..but I wanted to figure out where that 0.10 parameter comes out, and if it varies for example depending on a range in tonnage.

in the book "designed molding manual" there is a nice section on the hourly costs for the press.
Now I do not remember if there are factors or formulas, it is a chapter that I have read out of evade as I would not apply it in my work.

But why do you have to deal with each other's house? ? send the math the supplier and ask for a maximum quote.
a 120t Chinese and hydraulic press costs less than 50k the same European and electric 120t costs more than double it follows that only of amortization the costs of the two 120t presses will not be comparable. for a new 100/140t electric press only the depreciation costs are around 7 euro/h to which all the fixed costs of a company are added (services and certifications have a cost). Trust vs suppliers and if you don't meet you look elsewhere for the right value for money/services.

absolutely more than obvious, pity that I should not ask for a quote.
I have to present a more complex prospectus for a new experimental project, which provides for a projection on time cost comparisons.

Unfortunately to establish the hourly cost of a press it is necessary to identify not only tonnage but also brand and model. as I told you from a hydraulic model, hybrid or electric tot. the variables are huge, depreciation, energy consumption, consumption of refrigerators etc. any accessories necessary to the central channel/hot rooms, central heating mold, possible use of manipulator etc. maybe you can base the project on a specific press indicating brand and model, so to establish a time cost should they simpler. the technical data of the presses are online, the price lists are rather high leaving to the commercial a good % negotiation, this will further complicate your life
