Hello everyone!

Today I have had to insert a single-handed cut with the "series" command and, for working convenience needs, I had to indicate in the table the number of sunshades with the relative step.

to do this I used the "text" command of inventor in the putting into the table and I appeared the dialog box "format text".

I simply wanted to insert the two model parameters corresponding to the number of rows and columns and multiply them between them to get the total number of sunshades.

But it was not possible to me, because whatever syntax I used, I could not create the mathematical formula.
I tried with "=<xx*xx>" then with "(xx*xx) and away, but I did not get the desired formula, only a simple text.

In essence, I would like to be able to create a mathematical equation similar to those that can be created in the parametric quotas of the model and in the various commands of solid modeling.

You know if you can do that? because looking on google I found nothing about it.

thank you all!</xx*xx>

I throw it there: you could "do the accounts" in the model creating a new user parameter and then import the result... It's not literally what you're asking, but maybe you do the same.. .
Hello, catafract.

That's right! even if it is not exactly what I meant to do, your solution also solves the big problem!!:finger:

I didn't think about it, but it's true! instead of creating the expression in the text window in the table, you create a parameter in the model or in the axieme with the mathematical operation that I intend to do and you call it in the drawing. you get the same result that you create a formula in the "text" dialog box.

Thank you very much!!! for me it is solved!:finger:

I just have the curiosity to know if you can insert an equation even in the table, because in mechanical desktop you could do, so you should be able to do also in inventor, but who knows?

Hi arzigogolo, yes, you can do it.
in your model > parameter panel > "export parameters" for the two parameters of the series.

in the text format in the idw you will have them available. (only at the level of parameters, for expressions it is necessary to make some additional passage perhaps in iproperties)

Hello, Pompey.

thanks for the suggestion! in fact I wasn't sure about the road to export the parameters so you can find them in the "text form" window, and you gave me the confirmation!:finger:

always remains the fact that once inserted in the "text format" window with the "add parameter" button, I do not know how to put them in the form of mathematical expression among themselves so that they give a result (depending on the mathematical operator).

I tried to put them in round brackets, notebooks, these "<>", with the same sign in and out of brackets, but nothing, always come out as texts.

However, with the method of catafract and yours, I can do the same in the intent.
