create metal protection/ventilation network with sheet metal

I have to create a wire grid (wheel or square) to be applied to a box for a valve amplifier (I'm still preparing the cad i exam for the university), but I'm meeting some difficulties.
I thought it was enough to use sheet metal and after creating the flap, I could have created a grid with the same function (create ventilation grid) in solid part; but I noticed that this function is not in sheet metal.
I tried to make up with the sampling function, but it is much more difficult as I have to go for attempts to the offset and however I can not extend it to the whole area of the flap in a clean way.
Is there a specific function that can help me?
Do I have to remake the grid in solid mode and then be able to use create ventilation grid?

I don't know the sheet metal environment, but somewhere there should be the menu

applications--pass to part

when you finish the grid you can return to sheet metal (change the command interface, the file always remains of type *.psm).

However, you must start from psm, create the sheet, go to part, do the work and then go back to psm.
Unfortunately (and incomprehensibly) on solid edge can not start from a par and then decide to make a sheet......... in all other cad si.
I've been asking and asking for years, but nobody listens to us.
It would be so beautiful... to eliminate the psm extension, and from inside the par decide whether it is sheet or not, it does not seem so impossible.
solid edge makes so many beautiful things, but I never understood xkè you have to complicate them all the time and so! now it is tetesko of cermania, but first not...
not to mention the body type non manifold, problem eliminated even in the cheaper of the 3d, but ke persists imperterrito on solid edge, even on st2.

personally it would be annoying to have to open the file to see if it is a sheet or part. with a filter on the extension today you understand to the flight what contains a file.

Here, yes, this would be very interesting, with a simple "save by name" being able to change the environment.
an old client left with all the psm files, then decided the way to go through to part or not;
other flaw, if you import a x_t axieme or other formats, automatically if you generate pars, even if they are sheet. with a save by name and changing "extension" would also survive this.

you can use the paste copy, either at the sketch level but in your case even better copy the whole feature directly.

the selection can also be made by window, just set the method on "single" and then create the selection fence. as for all commands that require a selection of the rest.

almost all selections... on the environment structures if you have to delete the sketch lines you have to take them one by one.
for a client I had made a large and complex plant, and at 3/4 of the work made me turn a part of the plant.
I had to select about 500 lines one to a +canc (+ zoommate various), I was crying, and he was watching them with an expression between the atonym and the amazed.
