Good morning to all,
Finally after several requests for archive accommodation I was given a hd with a general backup of everything that the designers/projectors/designers/designers before me have completed.
never existed a real archive but every individual always had full freedom to save their files as he desired.
now, more than 10 years of software use and 4 changed designers, the: "I don't find a file. someone can tell me where it is?" or "I found the drawing table file but when the open has lost reference to the file part or together", it is on the agenda because there was someone who saved by project, who by name of the component and who practically randomly without a logic in renameing the files. (prova1, test2, aaaa, bbb, etc.)

now begins the beautiful; I'll have to search any reference a anything was designed saving everything in a new "archive" folder but I didn't understand (I read the guide) how the rescue works with references and in order to avoid going to further mess up my life before starting to save tuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, what I will find I prefer to have clear ideas.

from what I understood there is the possibility to save through last generated file, everything that is within the latter.
es: Open the drawing file with all odds etc and save (so I don't understand) you can save everything in a new folder, rename both the drawing file, and the file together/part/cazziemazzi and subfile (e.g. saved renamed the drawing file, saved renamed file together, saved renamed file/s parts, all in a new single destination folder) without losing references between them. so once you finish the job if you delete the old files already copied in the new archive will not appear the message "component not found" etcetc.

I did several tests saving a drawing in copy (so from what I understood in this way is as if it was a copy dependent on itself and the file represented inside)
Immagine.webpbut also popping up "include all components with reference" no other files appear in the new destination folder if not the .drw

Now, I don't know if what I've written is a tire of bullshit or not, if I have misunderstood or not, but I have a lot of confusion in my head about the subject and probably the fear of doing some shit is so much that it blocks me.

Can someone explain to a solidwork noob how he could do it?
I don't need to save time etc, I could also put 20 years (better not) to do this job since not every day I work to design but also to render or additional changes for custom jobs to existing components.

(specific that I'm learning everything from self-taught and sooner or later I hope the course will make me do it because to take responsibility without knowing how to deal with things properly it doesn't bother me
ps: they knew that with sw I had never had to deal with)

I thank in advance anyone who can help me, you will save my head every time I have to look for maybe a component designed now more than 10 years ago.

I tell you how file references are managed
together: has references to his drawing and parts and related drawings
part: has references to his drawing
drawing: refers to its side or together file, but without having connected them

then making a pack&go:
from a set you can save all referencing files (both parts and drawings)
on one side you can save only the files reported inside (draws and possibly other parts or assemblies if they have sketches/functions shared)
by drawing you can save only his part

the pack6go is mandatory to save/seat files by keeping the connection of the parts; is also mandatory to rename files (excluding drawings) keeping links

So, excuse me massive, from what you tell me if I have to make a pack&go I always want to do it on the assemblies for having more reference files at the end of the same?

You always have to do it from the highest level you need.

you should study the pack&go by doing some evidence also because it has some options to manage it for example if you want you can exclude certain elements

I'm looking at the guide, thanks massive!
in case of need I tell you if it is not trouble
