on a sheet metal box I would like to perform some funnels using as profile the projection of a spline curve on the body. I tried generating offsets of surfaces and then projecting the curve on the same, but with uncertain results. I can not instead activate a mask to develop the curve on the shape of the sheet. How can you do that? Thank you.

to better explain to me: do you know the manual of g. of the nobleman? on page 666 and 668 there are two funnels made with 3d curve placed on the sheet. probably later with the manual I will understand it alone, but I wanted to anticipate.

I give myself a half answer. step into the environment surfaces and create a superficial offset for the 3 parts of the sheet, i.e. the two contiguous stems and the fold that unites them. then I join them with merge surfaces, trying to select cleansing and checking tangency. design a sketch on an offset plane where I'm comfortable and project it on the solid surface. back in sheet metal environment and select the projection with the command funnel from the surface. to work however: 1) is very critical with the values of radius, depth, width and not always generates the feature; 2) is not easy to fly. it would be very interesting instead to know if you can use the mask directly on the surface of the sheet, clearly not flat (it would not serve), but generated perhaps by extrusion of a spline. I did, and so the answer is yes, but I wanted to know if there is anything else you can do to project 3d curves on a generated sheet.

I realized I posted this msg in the wrong area. if the moderator could relocate it in: catia v5 catpart . thanks
