Good morning
even if I come from the proe and pdmlink world, I have to deal with inventor 2009 and productstream. the problem is in principle simple, but in fact we have not yet found a solution. Perhaps I let myself be conditioned by the ease with which I manage the data in pdmlink within the scope, I do not know.
in the management of integrated business data (i.e. common to all business functional areas, design, purchases, sales etc.) it is necessary to study in a very precise way the custom fields that are linked to each component of the axieme. For example, if I want the purchasing industry to recognize a commercial part and that it is active to request an offer, I must enter the part that I created in the cad:
- Supplier code
- manufacturer
- type (commercial)

or if I want a sheet metal part immediately managed by the office purchases as sheet metal I will have to insert
- material thickness
- material
- weight of the finished

These fields are customised and should be contained in the initial tremplate, then be compiled each time by the operator of the cad, which creates a new part. below my doubts:
1) how do I create custom fields in parts and assemblies?
2) how do I view them in productsream?
3) how can I update parts without custom fields?
4)How can I filter them into productstream to have sorted lists?
5) how can I generate distinct bases in product stream?

I apologize the length but I'm crazy and the autodesk provider has predicted an immanent job, when the same work is default in the proe...

1) dx button on the part in the browser > iproperties > custom tab to write properties in the template or where you need it;

3) a macro (some code righa made in a "great" way, a little more for a refined thing) should do as you ask, probably also ilogic but I haven't faced it yet: it is not complicated to add the properties that are lacking, at most it is long and boring. . .

my problem is that this data does not affect me much in the drawings, as in the pdm productstream database as "archive" of the manageable and visible projects also to other users. for a commercial part, e.g., it is important that you arrive at the item purchase a request of a precise number of commercial parts (motor, bearing etc.) . the communicative form of exchange is not a design, but a structured list (type access or excel) connected to the separate proncipal cad. the object of my request is not inventor, but productstream, which is (or should be...) a pdm, i.e. a "product development management".

I think I don't understand, I'm sorry. the cad operator must enter the data where: in the cad and then the pdm will extract them or directly in the pdm? I'm sorry if I wasn't very clear, but the problem isn't exactly the cad inventor. this data must be managed piss nel cad piss in the pdm. pdm is a data manager that is connected to the cad in all its parts. even it is possible to insert into the pdm data that are not modeled in a set cad. try for example to think of the lubrication oil. I must indicate it in separate, but it is not necessary to model it in the cad. or the instruction manual. or electric parts (plc inverters etc.) which are often not included in the axieme, but must appear separately. How do you do, for example, to make a so-called "restored distinction" where the spare parts of a plant are extrapolated (filters, motors, guides etc)? data management can and must also take place outside the cad to order pieces, manage production, control quality etc. I do not see in productstream the same data I put in the cad. this is the problem. Well, you can always keep inventor and change pdm anyway. . I think there are various possibilities around. if I didn't understand wrong at the end the work (data management) does the pdm, the cad draws only the pieces and for absurd the thing would also work with autocad... if the productstream is actually unsuitable.
