Good morning, everyone.
I would like to know if it is possible to vary the description in a part coming from bookstore, I make a practical example:
in a set I insert a gearbox to vsf from a personal library. when I generate the distinction I should complete or change the reduction ratio in the description, but this is not allowed because the object comes from a library.
Do you have a solution?
I currently make one or more copies of the reducer in a "commercial" folder in the design structure and customize the descriptions.
Thank you.

it would be correct to use multiple gearboxes according to the reduction ratio.... but to change a part description or title in libraries you can use i-assembly tools.... then when you save, you put the check up where it tells you it's a library file

It's a situation where I find myself often.
I do this:
in the bookcases I have in separate files, the reducing body,the/the reducing or motor attack flanges, the reaction arms etc.
when I have to insert a gearmotor, I create a set in the project with the pieces that I need to compose the gearbox and I call the file iam with the name of the reducer including the ratio and the possible motor (e.g.: motovario nmrv050_i-30_fa_kw0-5_4p_b14)
so 'in distinct I have the name of the reducer with its features and I do not swallow the copy library of the same reducer with different ratio.

after reading the peppe's response, I had come to mind to use a set as proposed by tarkus.
This solution adapts more to my needs and I do not create many copies of the same parts.
Thanks for suggestions.
