description in part file

Hello, everyone. I've been circulating lately in the compilation of the distinct materials to be inserted in the assemblies. for my needs would also well the standard sw table, with article number, part number, description and quantity. But I would like to ask you something: it seems to me that the column "description" points to the description of the configuration of the part file. Is that correct? As I still use a few configured parts, would it be possible to create a custom property to be inserted in each part that makes the function of such description and to be inserted by hand? I hope I've explained well.

I answer myself. I could use the summary tab within the properties (menu -> file -> properties), maybe linking "title" or "object". What can you say?

more simply open the individual parts and enter the property description and fill it out? Since you're gonna have to do it sooner or later...better you do it before...unless you want to go around with a shoe and a hoof

The solution I proposed came because for the moment I can't do what you say (and that I wanted to do from the beginning) :frown:
I would like to insert the description in the part model that I have already created, so at least those after are already in place. But how do I do it? I mean, if I put a description of the custom properties... then where do I insert it? always reopening the properties?

open the part, file menu, property, custom board, add the property description type text and fill it.

Okay, so every time I create a part I do the same thing and I'm fine. I thought there was a faster way, which I know, like a box in sight where you could insert certain inputs. but also so is better than nothing:smile:. Thank you very much:finger:

true! you can create a quick compilation profile by opening the property tab builder in the start menu...programs. ..solidworks...struments.

However you need to know how to configure it and create a template for the parts where you create the compilation boxes and obviously in your case add description.

I use it. Usually you make 3 models with the builder: 1 part, 1 table, 1 together.

this because in every environment there are properties to be edited. in the table for example there is the number of pieces (for those who do not trust the distinct base), or the author. in the part I never put the description because the rescue already asks description .... under the file name. However there are thermal treatments etc. In the axieme can be for example the machine name or unit.

!!! I needed this from the beginning, which is precisely the column "description" of the distinct base of sw :finger:! I'm going to use this and stop, I don't even have to change the table. if then in the future I will have greater needs, I use the builder (which by the way, for the two fields I had created successfully before, it seems very fast and intuitive).
