Hello everyone
I wonder if someone has ever tried to create and simulate reflective surfaces with proes (also with isdx module).
Some companies with whom I work tell me that proe is not suitable and that to do these types of analysis (paraboles for lights or projectors) prefer to use rhino (they do not have the isdx free surface module).

there are software that are add on proe (optics, tracepro) that do exactly this job, but for the moment they are too expensive, since this is a curiosity (I have no particular need at the moment).

Has anyone ever tried or seen doing these jobs with no dedicated software?

Thank you.

I doubt that someone responds to you that they have taken care of lighting technology (at least in the automotive sector) using proes. I can tell you that those who design body parts and other details, such as the "fanaleria", prefers by far the couped caia-rhino, although in the united states very much like the study-tools. In fact, the isdx allows you to venture into the field of freeform surfaces, but it remains in all cases very limited in its potential and macchinose/complicated management of the maths (which consequently takes time). I don't want to be wrong, but your case leads me back to the tap sector, where the chrome does nothing but highlight the defects of the curvature of the surfaces, and also in this sector the rhino is very appreciated. Bye!

We try to answer if we have any help to give and not to make the usual tirite.
It is not a question of isdx, indeed with isdx you do style surfaces and do not model car bodies for the automotive sector.
high quality surfaces with pro/e are made with rex (reverse engineering extension).
is a module that allows, among other things, to manage the degree of surfaces and the manipulation of individual knots.

For what you're asking, I've heard of bmx, the behavioral analysis module.
But I don't know him, you should ask some dealer if he can contact you with someone who understands something.

as maxopus says, the bmx is a pro-e module that allows to do analysis and geometric optimizations and is perfect if you want to study parables for lights and projectors.
therefore with pro-e+bmx do even complex surfaces, as the basic license of pro-e also includes advanced and parametric surfaces and analyzes with bmx.
to use rhino when you have pro-and in my opinion is an absurdity.
who tells you that pro-and "is not suitable" does not properly consce pro-e.
Bye.

ok thanks for the answers. I'm looking on the internet but on the bmx I don't find much.
There are some interesting vehides on youtube, I will look at them, and then maybe I will feel a dealer to better understand the potentialities of the package.

Thank you.
