Good morning to all, I came across an exercise carried out attached. I decided to follow a slightly different road regarding the allocation of diameters of the shaft on which two bearings are mounted, i.e. I imposed the bearing in b with internal diameter of 12mm (on the text instead opts for 10mm) and for a shouldering to the right at least 2mm. is it correct or is it a mistake?
Finally I wanted to ask: how to proceed to calculate the 36mm diameter section on which the conical pinion is calettato?
Sorry if they are elementary questions but the opinion of the most experienced can never be useless.
Thank you.

first you need to dimensional the whole tree, get the internal actions and then you switch to the choice of the bearing, you do the verification to duration. the choices are many. for conical pinions there are radial and axial reactions on bearings, so they should be evaluated.

to choose the bearing first you have to do the sizing of the shaft and then find that reactions you have on the bearings and consequently make a choice of the bearing both for the type of bearing and for the duration. the shouldering you define it and then verify that there are no interference of any kind with the bearing you choose.
