I knew that the native files should be opened and not imported, but in fact they can be inserted (as a block or family) within the project. so at this point I spontaneously wonder: what difference is between insert ed import?
... very well, you opened a new discussion:finger:
beyond the semantic of words, inserting, importing, loading, in the case of revit is meant to physically carry something in the project file and/or the families.
of course, according to the "type of object" imported/inserted/loaded, its management with revit will be congruent with the characteristics of the object/family/group/ etc., imported/inserted/loaded.
for example a family or group will be manageable/modified directly with revit, a dwg file or other type, will be editable only with the creation sw of the same object, while with revit will be manageable only partially: for example materials.
such mode is very convenient (even if the size of the revit file increases) as the file (family or project) also contains the imported and the related information, without the need to have available the original file of the imported object, including the colors and materials assigned to the object (from the default mr library)
Okay. I instead gave two different meanings.insert/load = open, then editable and manageable to all effects with the owner sw (see families); import=of different origin, then editable in part, as the information that the imported file carries with itself is not such as to sin it.
p.s. I noticed the edict on the genre... thanks!
