I insert for example a standard part (trave hea100 length 1200) in a set.
If I have to make a hole in the part, it tells me that I can't change it because it's read alone.

I guess it's a problem with software settings. (first use inventor in 99% of cases; inventor in fact creates me a new part saving it in a path to my choice).

I can't make sure that when entering the standard part it is still saved as a file somewhere, so you can make later changes? .

or, once you drag the toolbox part, that it can be transformed into a normal component?

when you insert a part from the library click with the right button of the mause over the component you need... you create part then you can save it as a side file where you want... or you need to configure the toolbox from the menu to ensure that every part you put is saved in a folder you decided to...

ok, I configured the toolbox from the menu, and I made sure that it puts every part in a folder (the one of the current project).

However, the part that inserts me is read-only, and this involves that I have to open it in exploring windows resources and remove the read-only check to the properties of the file.

I think it's a little bit sloppy, I was hoping I could do everything while I'm always dense solidworks.

Thank you
