doubts about family pipe fittings / pipeline... ?

Good morning. I have a doubt about creating families like "accessory pipes". I have just begun with revit mep so I could say inaccuracies or banality. the family I create then manages within a project to connect with the pipes. but I would also like to add the diameter of the family to the diameter of the pipes. is it possible and in case it is set, or where can the error be?

if you don't have much experience with revit and with mep families, which are not easy, why don't you start with the families that already exist to learn how they work? It is not a good idea to start with the most difficult things of the program.
