edit surface files (igs)

Good morning to all,
I've been banging my head on a big problem for me.
I have received from a supplier an igs file of an armchair shell and I have to make changes to the shape of the chair to adapt it to company standards.
the problem is that on inventor I can not create solids from these surfaces, the same argument applies to solidworks (mainly inventor use).
I searched on the forum, I also followed the procedures already discussed but without outcome.
Any suggestions?

send back the file asking to fix it.
if the repair tool fails to solve perhaps there are pretty big problems in the model.

the suggestion, besides that given by technomodel, is always the same: if you can, attach the file, so that we can evaluate it.
without seeing it it is impossible to give suggestions, it would be time lost uselessly.

Good morning, thanks for the interest and the answers, in the end I solved through the command "inspection/offset" in the 3d model menu, making the surfaces solid and subsequently modified to my liking.
Hopefully it will work well as solution
