2 in solid there is no command that in creating a solid at the same time eliminates a solid or intersecting surface.
the extruded cut command does not create, but eliminates.
so if, starting from a completely closed surface, you want with a single function getting that result is not possible.

in extruded cut solidworks is a single removal command, so I did that in fact. But you meant it as an extrusion command option, right?
in solid you have to do at least 3 commands:
1 surface area
2 extrusion
3 intersection (but check if version options allow it, in 2014 no)

exact.practically I can use a solid extrusion command on a face and specifying that I want to remove the material, get that result.
