Hello.I would like to know if it is possible to extrude a sketch lying on a flat face (private thickness)
and get a solid body "open". I attach an image for greater clarity.ps: I got this result with another cad but I would like to understand if you can do it with sw.thanks

a sketch also extrudes it from a plane, not necessarily from a solid or surface.
If, on the other hand, you want to make a solid cable from a full surface by extruding the sketches, which are cynical to an ethremity and emptying the corresponding area of the surface you do it quietly, but not with only one function

So using the extrusion/base or extruded cut command, can't you get a result straight?

1 in solids there is no command making a closed box on one side and open on the other.
2 in solid there is no command that in creating a solid at the same time eliminates a solid or intersecting surface.
the extruded cut command does not create, but eliminates.

so if, starting from a completely closed surface, you want with a single function getting that result is not possible.
if the conditions are different, for example do it with multiple functions, then it is possible.

ok.thank you for the answer.I mentioned the extruded cut because it is the operation I used in my case:I removed, that is, from the gray surface a rectangular sketch using a "solid" command

2commands: 1:I drew the flat face
2: On the face I traced a rectangular sketch that I used
for solid extrusion command (in material removal mode)
The result is a series of solid faces like you would?

in extruded cut solidworks is a single removal command, so I did that in fact. But you meant it as an extrusion command option, right?
in solid you have to do at least 3 commands:
1 surface area
2 extrusion
3 intersection (but check if version options allow it, in 2014 no)

exact.practically I can use a solid extrusion command on a face and specifying that I want to remove the material, get that result.
