b) self-taught always. ie from the times of acad (learned at Sunday afternoon in the office (I think the version was the 2....) until if, that I "imposed" to use about 4/5 years ago...

c) stubborn...in the sense that night is an excellent time to study and solve problems....why sleep??? ? ? :redface:

I have the "pippa" to approach the fem.

I would like to start with the femap contained in the se18.

from here on I am open to all the suggestions, if there was an exercise wouldn't be bad... .

femap express is very limited.
depends on what you have to do with it.

in st2 there is a new simulation module that looks promising, but I personally never used it.

consider that fem analysis is very complex. The risk of producing nothing more than colored images instead of real analysis is very realistic, so I recommend you study theory and practice well before you throw yourself on a software.

I think he wants to approach the finite elements more for personal culture than for work needs.

I started from quithe femap express is just over a toy.
If you want to do some zero-cost tests, I recommend caelinux. I repeat, some evidence to understand what finite elements mean: using it for simulations a fur more than simple is not at all trivial, indeed. However this applies to all finite element simulators.

in the st2 there is simulation (as already mentioned by b_o_e) which is a module apart for payment and allows you to analyze both welded and bolted assemblies etc.
It is, however (also according to my dealer) only an instrument of first analysis and approach, only to have at the "visual" level a representation of how a particular behaves under load.
does not replace what is the real femap.

Since you have the 18 tries to take a look at the help, however as already said is limited mooolto and on complex models often you plan and can't calculate anything.
