a step file for imported into any cad shows surface and solids. Nothing else.
sketches and feaitures are seen only with proprietary formats of cad.

like all serious cads, this utility tries to invent a series of sketches and solid functions, but completely different from the original and with sketches usually not bound....so it is a little 'a mirror for allodoles. thinking about making us internal machines so it's suicide.

clearly, it is convenient to "recreate" sketches on the single part.
I agree that it would be problematic to extend everything to a machine
