I hope it's the right section for this post.
I was passed a file with stl extension which is the result of a 3d scan of an object. I can visualize it with rhino but I can't export it in sat, step, iges. what I want is to manage it with inventor.. Does anyone know how to give me advice?

stl files are not supewrfici/solidi, but mesh.
try searching for "mesh", and within the forum you will find a lot of material.
to get an iges or step file usable, you have to reverse engineering, an operation far from trivial.
