hello to all, I'm not very experienced in using sw....I ask politely if you can help me as I don't know how to open assemblies or part (the same goes to save) in parasolid/iges/step formats or anything that present the full feature manager design tree of the development phases ......I only want to open them as "imported" but in this way I can't change anything... .
thanks for the answer

Hi.
the formats you talk about step/iges/parasolid are standard formats that are used to communicate with other cads.
You will never have a tree with the history of modeling.
then maybe in the specific of your cad you will have tools that allow you to recover ray or holes and then change them.
the modeling tree is only on the source cad

thank you victorious,
therefore if I have to open with sw12 a part generated with sw18, having saved it in one of the 3 formats mentioned, I will always see it as an imported unique file and I will never perform changes?

Exactly, you'll never see the modeling story.
saving it in step or parasolid (iges avoids), easy who will have to open it with sw12 , but aimè.. for big changes almost before remodeling
