rhino is fine, that you can still have for a while in working beta, but the most indicated for you is sketchup, free base.
and if you don't really have to be operational, type put on the table, exports etc., it's good also those in free version, like formz free, (also of course the other two non-free versions, which you can try) export only stl, but you will certainly have fun, it is very simple to model with these two sw.

autocad 2d - sketchup - kerkythea/thea = perfect to start.

I use this chain again after years if I have to make houses or even particular constructions to be used in autocad.
or by hobby, since you can do exactly what you want.
I have furnished my house so... I have made a relief and then on the warehouse there are already ikea models...

Obviously everything is free, with all the limitations of the case, but as the first approach to 3d and modeling is great!
