from 3d model to 2d design

a company of a friend needs to get 2d views from 3d models coming from different cads and in different formats, there is some software that allows this without having to resort to the original cad or anyway to a cad with which to import the 3d models?

open it but not in the native cad and be able to obtain views, I remember for example 3d tools that gave the possibility to obtain sections of any 3d model, quota them, annotarle etc. Unfortunately 3d tools does not allow to make projections but only sections (as mentioned).
