from pro/engineer 4.0 to 3ds 9: urgent please!!

Hello everyone, I'm new.
I would like to kindly ask for help because I really don't know how to do it. I searched in the forum but I can't find a similar topic, so I apologize in advance if I make a repetition.
I would like to import in 3d studio max a file of pro/engineer. who made it in pro-and I passed it in ".igs" format but when I go import it in 3ds it blocks me after having loaded for hours... help please is very important. . . .

excuse me maxopus, but not being practical or of 3ds... could you explain yourself better thanks? as I actually need a 3ds file which in turn will lead to another software: artlantis. Is with what I'm gonna make... what a mess, huh?? Thank you.

those I have indicated to you are 3 pro/e export formats that should fit for 3ds.
you have to see what is the format of the 3 best "digested" by 3d studio.
put a part exported in the 3 formats, try importing it and saving it and see what the resulting file is lighter.

I had written a series of things....and I disconnected....caz.........volo!!! patience....the substance is that you have enlightened me!!!!thank you so much!!!! !cmq the .sat or acis does not open it. The other two do. then another thing: if during this export for 3d sudio by proe you can choose to save by layer?? to put any textures..... thanks milleeee

Okay then at the most I'll try a little. Thank you so much for now... I don't know how I would do without your help. Now I try to get the file back from who made it saved in that extension for 3ds... trying to finally succeed. in case I rewrite....thank you again. Good evening!
