Hello everyone

I would need to create an orbital oleodynamic engine in inventor 11 (gerotor).

I want help on the path to make to draw the profile.

In theory the basic profile is created by the trajectory of a point within a circle rolled on a base circle. then a cycloid on a circle or trocoid.

next another circle must be bound in the center on the previously obtained trocoid, and thus obtaining the final profile.

as it is more difficult to say than to see I attach a pdf file with the procedure.

If you need more information, I will try to explain myself better! !

Hello, Sir,
It's practically a loboidal engine.

Regardless of the complexity of the profile, I recommend you create in excel the set of points in polar coordinates and then turn them into Cartesian coordinates.

then you will import into the side file the "points cloud" x and y and from that you will then create a spline passing between the points.

works with both swx and inv. the technique is the same, it changes a moment the procedure and the fact that (if I don't remember bad) inv uses for the cloud of points the first three columns of the first sheet of the excel document, so you do the accounts on the second sheet that you no longer miss and try to see that I think there is the option to count or not the column heading line.

using the equations listed in the annex you will surely be able to define the path closed by you desired. I used this system for cam profiles and for a modified scroll with modified Archimedes spiral.

If you need anything else, ask:finger:

Thank you very much for the answer!
I don't think I'm up to it. I don't know how to transfer them to an excel sheet. :))

I could try with an explanation of all the procedure :p ...

hello to all, I'm sending this old discussion because I would have a similar problem. I have to create a profile like the previous but with a different number of profiles. I tried to search for formulas online or something that could help me but nothing. Does anyone of you know where I could search, even on books, the way to create the equation to then import it into the cad and create the geometry (in my case solidworks, but that's not the problem)?

I explain better: I found some parametric formulas and created an excel sheet to create the profile. the question is: creating an external profile (profile with hypotrocoid formulas?) with 16 lobes, the inner profile, which would be the one that is created before, can I make it 15 lobes (profile with epitrocoid formulas?)? I hope I've explained
