Hello, everyone!

reading a discussion here on the forum this http://www.cad3d.it/forum1/showthread.php?t=5588 I tried out of curiosity to download the model proposed by sampom, this: http://www.cad3d.it/forum1/attachment.php?attachmentid=4134&d=1214187660.

then I opened it and realized that the shiny reflections displayed on its model, opening it in my solidworks were not displayed.

in practice the model is displayed opaque instead of glossy as from attached image.

in the second image there is the model displayed correctly by sampom.

I tried to disable hardware acceleration in soildworks in the options panel -> "performance" to see if it depended on that, but instead nothing.

I tried to change the color by increasing the value in the item "reflections", but also so nothing happens.

I tried to search on the internet and on the online help and I saw that there is an option called "realview" that I think should serve this, but in the menu "visualize" is disabled even if I don't know why.

I don't know if it depends on the graphics card drivers, but it seems strange to me, because apart from this problem, it doesn't create any defect whatsoever. harware acceleration is fluid and there are no strange artifacts on the screen and also inventor and solidedge work properly.

I mean, I can't figure out what it might be.:frown:

my graphics card is more a video game card than for cad programs, it is the nvidia geforce 280 gtx amp, the driver version is the "forceware v. 196.21" but as I repeat, it never gave me neither gives me any other problem except for this with solidworks nor with the other programs cad.

You know what it might depend on?

thank you all!

Wow, you went well back in time to find that old thread:biggrin:

However yes, it is "colpa" of the graphics card. a gaming and not a certified pro. to make the real view active (to that you owe the reflections of my model) serve nvidia quadrifx or ati firegl, cards that have the opengl "native via hardware", specially dedicated to cad programs. everything is explained at the beginning of the guide and on the solidworks site in the technical section regarding compatible hardware.

But do not despair, you can somehow bypass the limit:biggrin:; I don't think your model is hackable via sofware in fx picture, but in the discussion useful resources for swx users find a simple and effective patch placed by the excellent soliduser that allows you to activate the realview and view the models "from the truth"... of course with that function the system slows down, and much for large and complex assemblies. Try it.

greetings
Marco:smile:

Hello, Marco!

thank you very much for the suggestion! :finger:
As soon as I can, I immediately try the solution you suggested to me!
Yes, even if it slows down a bit, I'm curious to see if it displays the models as in solidworks certified cards.
but is it always reversible? I mean, can I go back in case I slow down too much?

You know, I know it's not an important thing, but it seems like I have a "touched" system if I can't see the reflections properly.

In fact, my graphics card in video games is a bomb! is very fast at any resolution even with the latest 3d shooter titles, unfortunately the "price" to be awarded is a not perfect compatibility with some software cad 3d.
Wow, you went well back in time to find that old thread.
Yes, it is because I have a problem that I can't solve and then I went to see in the previous discussions of the forum to see if I found the solution. for now I haven't found it yet, I'll try for a while alone, then if I still can't, I'll open a new thread here on the forum.

Thanks again!

Bye.

p.s.

I've been using solidworks for a long time, but I like it as software and already having experience with inventor, for now, I can handle it pretty well. I see that it is very flexible in all modes (part, together and put on the table) and especially in the table, I was struck by the automatism that reshapes the quotas alone when you delete some. A walk!

it works great!!:finger:

Great!

Now we have to see how much slows down in the assemblies, but already so well.

slows down only with the active realview, when you remove it back as before.

However you can "disinstall" the patch completely (but it doesn't bother you, keep it as well); If you've noticed in the same installation window, there's a chance to "go back".

p.s. for the other problem you ask quietly.

Hello, Marco.

Yes, I noticed that in the patch dialog box there is the "restore" item, so just click and he restores the previous values of the change.
but that you know, the change affects only solidworks or even the games that make use of opengl libraries?

However I do not uninstall it because, as you say, it is enough to activate it and disable it to the need not to uninstall it.:finger:

Thanks for the availability, then since I have not yet managed to get the result I wanted, put in a new discussion the problem I would like to solve.

I called the discussion "curve an area".

I'll see you there.

Thank you.

It's about sw.
put a string in windows logs under a sw voice telling him that your video card supports the rv.

All right!
That's what I wanted to know.

I'm fine with it, at least it doesn't mess with other applications.

Thank you very much!

Bye.
