I believe that steel design serves to make the "cutting parts" i.e. if you have a frame made all in tubes 30x30x2 automatically should generate a tabellina with the list of pieces and the cutting length, regarding the classic bom maybe it is enough model manager, in fact if you go to the customization section you will find, bound to model managers, all the commands that you use to save and make distinct with the help of a database.
I don't know how they're tied about the customizations of cartiglio and distinct base.
the only thing that leaves me a little puzzled is the presence of an additional module (paid) "data management", but unfortunately in these months I am using modeling without database or pdm so I can only speculate.
