grouping buttons: drop down menu

I would have intended to peronalize the screen and precisely some things on the toolbar, precisely I would like to create buttons where the click opens an additional bar where commands of the same type are listed (for example to view references). I'm sure you can see that I've seen it, but I have no idea how to do it. I hope I explained.

selections new menu/free element
and drag it into the bar in the location interests.
to this points you drag into the commands you want to group.
