Good morning to all,
I ask you my question: I am making an external rendering that must be the simulation of an outdoor lighting installation, for an lighting project. Now, I did all the modeling, set the parameters to render for the gi (they are those recommended by chaos group), placed and arranged my room, blabla. .
The problem is with the lights. importing only the ies file from the vray light panel the 3d model obviously is not there, not to mention that the light distribution does not reflect minimally that of the lamps in question, but I have the possibility to access the modifier and therefore to be able to change the settings (light flux, dim light area, etc.). importing with drag and drop the 3ds+ies file (it is the only way I can import it), the 3d file is visible, the photometry is right (although in rendering it is as if I broke it in half... t_t ) but not in the modifier there appears no voice to be able to access the settings....besides in the environment and effect imposed the vray exposure control, but in the render not me it...ok, it is a lot of stuff; I will be grateful to anyone who will help me solve these problems. _

is it true that vray is more accurate but for this case you did not think to use mental ray?
is still great and you can manage photometric lights very well

Unfortunately mental ray I never used it and I can't use it... The problem is that I'm almost done now, I just have to solve these problems.. .

the biggest problem I have is that in the process of making me cut off the photometric distribution. when you calculate the gi but to view the distribution is how it should be, only in the final calculation me the size and every time this happens also only changing the view (sometimes the size, sometimes not). I don't understand what's wrong with rendering settings.

Hello fanfy, I am like you today in the same situation. by chance, I found your discussion on the web. Could you kindly update me about how you managed to solve the problem? the photometric distribution has created to me various problems, and then comes out cut... help!!

Thank you.

importing with drag and drop the 3ds+ies file (it is the only way I can import it), the 3d file is visible, the photometry is right (although in rendering it is as if I broke it in half... t_t ) but not in the modifier there is no voice to be able to access the settings....
Sorry but I'm not clear about your problem... do you need to import the 3ds+ies file into your scene and can't view ies parameters? ? ?
also in the environment and effect imposed the vray exposure control, but in the render not me it...t_t
What? Don't do what?

... then... vray esxposure controll is not an exposure control with mr...but it is a "adapt" perspective view or room standar to work as a physical room of vray!!!!....if you need to manage more precisely ies use photometric lights of 3dmax, set shadow vrays as type of shadows... .
