If you have to make a light structure more or less, that's what I understand.
near the sea I recommend you to use profiles aluminum 6060t

steel and aluminum in marine environment do not agree at all ... teflon seals to not put the two materials in contact.

if you want a council realize the structure in galvanized iron and possibly hot painted the sections can be enough of 80x40x2 , on the length of 6 m you have to realize a reinforcement (traliccio) .
as advice cover the compact polycarbonate of 4 mm at least.
the cover surface must be divided with transverses.
if you need special clarifications are available
