helical aid

Hi.

I should create this "molla" (it's not really a spring is a steel sheath, not knowing how I'm trying to make it with the helical command)
I managed to do it more or less. but this sheath is cut and then the beginning and the end are at 120° (i.e. flat) but when I try to make this change on the two ends tells me that it is impossible to create the edge of the spring.
What do you think I should do?

You could create the "molla" normally, and cut it later creating a plan and then a negative extrusion.
