Good morning to all
for an application I would need to design a transport shuttle that travels on rails. the shuttle runs 12mt in 6.5 seconds
I started from an old project in which the rail is formed by a frame profiles of aluminum 90x90 to which are fixed of the rounds that make from rail.
the shuttle runs on these rounds and has a wheel connected to a toothed wheel.
the toothed wheel is grafted on a rack fixed on the aluminum profiles of the rail itself.
use the rack at these speeds however it is not very indicated since it would be very noisy.
I would opt for a strap system but given the length I do not know if it is the most indicated
Does anyone have any advice or could they have a solution to the problem? if you need allego photo
premix that reducer and gearmotor are already dimensioned (network with primitive diameter 50mm)

Bye.
1) laws qui2) post a pattern or picture or drawing because we lost in the story
3) pinion and rack allow high speed and acceleration but above all very long strokes. if you work with rack and lazy helical rectified will be much quieter than the classic straight teeth not rectified.
4) belt and pulley on 12 meters should be supported all because it is silent until so long that it does not slam. the strap can stretch, pinion and rack is more precise.

I would go with rectified rack and helical pinion (atlanta example) as recommended by @meccanicamg . with the belt on races so long risks of having large inaccuracies of positioning and especially commuting due to the elasticity of the belt itself. depends very much on the required masses and accelerations. the object in the image does not seem particularly light to me, and the dynamic performance required even, so on two feet. Another problem of your project is that the guides will hardly be sufficiently parallel over the whole length, so as to allow a good ingration of the pinion-cremagliera couple. I systems like that I have always seen them on recirculation guides of spheres and tracks rested on milled surfaces.

If you want to use wheels, I think it's quite mandatory to go on the straps, and then maybe you choose the wheels. synchroflex with steel core, abundantly dimensioned not so much for strength as for stiffness.

I on aluminum profiles have always mounted linear guides with ball recirculation skates and never had problems. I always left my wheels at the gates.
Yes, of course, but if the cart has to carry a pinion that has to gear on rectified helical rack then maybe it's better to take some extra care. Usually manufacturers of commercial axes motorized with pinion and rack make it.

if the masses and accelerations in play are high, a beautiful structure in electro-welded steel and machined on aleatrice is more suitable. coupled with two guides and skates recirculation of balls, racks and rectified helical pinion. then everything depends on the degree of accuracy required, the available budget and the daily operating hours of the plant.

I am presenting both solutions, I hope for the solution with rack but it does not depend on me unfortunately

I am browsing the catalogue megadyne.. What do you think?
You can go, you also make axes like your belt as long as you check the system dynamics. use the "scan" type so you definitely have more accuracy on the step and less elasticity of the belt.

Sorry I messed up with the breco-type synchronous straps. for megadyne the synchronous word means another thing.
