Then I express my point of view:
I started with the 3d about 10 years ago and then I tried both inventor and solidworks (we talk about the 2005 versions) and at that time bought solidworks because it was really a span ahead.....
Two years ago, the company that I worked for closed the doors and went to work in an inventor... As soon as they told me I had failed, but after trying the last relapse I must say that the difference feels little.
maybe it is true that solidworks is more intuitive but inventor is much more complete and also easy to customize

skizzo-2d environment with possibility of multiple constraints
skizzo-3d environment at the top (perhaps the worst thing about inventor)
virtual components (maybe a cabbage but the fact of having them allows you to work better)
configurations (unbeatable)
sheet metal
prey inventor
welded environment management (both for cuts and top welding)
management libraries even here if you have to customize something you are a second
standardized libraries there is all bolts shafts plugs etc... of everything and more ready and everything in Italian (which on solidworks was a break of boxes)
