Hello, everyone.
I need a guide. once I saw a tutorial in which two plates were paired: a hole and one not. the two plates must eventually be joined by a screw. there was a function that allowed to obtain the holes on the un drilled plate starting from the holes of the perforated one, without passing for the classic passages edit piece, creation holes etc.
How do you do that?
Hello and thank you

you can use the function "series holes" but usually no plate is drilled and with only one function do all holes.
otherwise you can make holes in the contextual modification mode of the part and check the concentricities between the sketch points and the holes of the already drilled plate.

In theory you can also make an extruded cut in the axieme. It's a normal cutting function that allows you to work at the same time on the parts that interest you, and if you need it, it allows you to propagate the function even to the part when it is outside the axieme.
I find, however, that as King suggests, it is more convenient and above all manageable a contextual modification of the part still to be drilled. at that point you can either redesign the holes or select the profile and use convert entities (to speed you can also select directly in the tree the sketch that creates the holes in the plate and then make "convert entities", but only s enon you used the creation wizard holes).
greetings
Michael

probably solarlord refers to the use of smart fasteners;
even without putting the screws allows to make the necessary holes on the elements assembled directly in the axieme. .

Bye.
I succeeded in the end using the set function of holes.
already that we are, do not master very well the function converts entities....but not the master for nothing. What do you need?

It is a function I know but I do not use by choice and explain why I made this decision.
These functions make the program "easy" to the point of looking like a toy and at the same time you can easily use external references (the thing is transparent to the user).
sin that these functions are actually easily failable because based on the faces of solids and it is easy, with a minimum distraction, to create circular references or to change the parts in multiple contexts.
This means creating a parametric model of which you easily lose control, in practice the basis of contextual advertising.
I prefer to rely on other entities, more solid and that hardly jump in case of change and I talk about skeletons and layout.
In this case entities are reference geometries, sketches and sketches3d, if the user does not combine it large models are bomb-proof.
Therefore I prefer to invest a little more time at the beginning in the creation of the skeleton and fly into modeling later on a solid base.

perfectly agree with re-solidworks is a convenient but dangerous function if used without proper attention. in simple cases however it allows to speed considerably the design!
