hi I have to draw a parapet with sketck up but the problem is that when I work on an extrusion the solid "go to be blessed" , the program breaks everything in surfaces and lines, I can make groups but it seems unprecise, you work so in sketckup??? ? Does anyone give me a tip? I read the manual. I can post the file maybe give us an eye.
Thank you very much
Is everything aligned?

difficult to guess...if you want to attach the file I will take a look at it.
Hi.

hi here attached the file, I am 2 maybe one is more however it seems imprecise as I said, I used solo mworks and when extruding it makes you extrude until without interference. . . .

I opened the most complete one, the pieces are all groups, so to extrude them you have to edit them, that is by clicking twice enter the group and do the extrusion. You designed tubulars, so if you extrude it only of the thickness of the tubular obviously, I'm sorry I don't understand what you mean by solid that disappears or breaks... .

if you look at the groups are constituted not by solids but by surfaces and lines. if I have no solids can I create and intersect the various elements? then could I also make a layout with a distinct components like on solid works and other programs?? ? Thank you.

sketchup works only with surfaces and edges, the concept of solid as it means autocad for example does not exist (i.e. a full object also inside). However you can always intersect these objects by obtaining the intersection surface or better the intersection board if it is what interests you. for the rest making a distinct is something different from what makes solidwork (I think, I don't know it, I imagine it has a specific command), i.e. you can have a library of components that then stacks in a layout, but only the paid version manages the layouts. If you use the free version, I think you should do a separate file. .

I'm sorry, I better explain what I said before. If you do an extrusion of a face obviously you will have a solid full, but if you create only faces (for example of a cube do the six faces) you will not have an interior but still you will get a volume that you can intersect with others. in autocad instead if you have surfaces and not solids you can not apply Boolean operations

Sorry, but it's not true. there is no concept of "full" in sketchup, an extruded square and a built line cube by line are absolutely identical. In fact, if you delete a line (or simply do a section) you will see that the inside of an extruded element is always empty.
However, as you rightly pointed out, this does not affect in any way the possibility of intersecting the surfaces, with the appropriate command that generates the separation lines.

You're right, I'm confused with explaining better. ..however I could not understand the problem posed by jim also because I do not use the pro version that has extra tools for solids (as far as I understand).
