how to create a family like "structural teams"?

Hello everyone,
It is my first discussion, after checking that there is no such thing.
I would like to create a family like that "structural couple" to be able to use the useful system for the creation of a roof, but with the type coppi and embryos.
Does anyone know if there is a tutorial or someone can explain how to do it?
(of course I tried to start with the family, but I didn't understand....)
Thank you very much, so far for any answers :).

you must intervene on the family of the "structural group" (modifies) and add the embryo (maintaining the plug).

I tried, but I couldn't, but that's an extrusion? ?

the interesting thing would be to understand how to create such a family starting from scratch

That's right.
the socket is created with a "extrusion on path": the path is a semicircumference.
the embryo can create it with the same extrusion (speculare of 180°) and its path will be a c (sdraiata), which should be placed next to the socket, in the right position.

it would be interesting to make a video tutorial. but then to each created cap can you give a different color of the material to create the anti-aging effect?

to better understand what I would like to do: I found this family of plugs and channels. I'd like to know how to create... I tried, but without success. if you give me a hand to understand I promise I will make a video tutorial to illustrate how to achieve it. in particular:
1. create this kind of family
2. understand if you can assign to one of the three groups present a material with a different color, so as to simulate the multicolor effect

look straight, also because I would like to participate with a series of tutorials in Italian that I would like to do about creating 3d roofs, the result of an innumerable series of tutorials that I have listened in multiple languages :p
Good day

n.b. the family was saved in the 2014 version - now I can't open it.
However, using a family of beams, to make the tiles in 3 d, is due to the fact that such family can be delimited, in its extension, using the perimeter of the ground / roof. it follows that, by putting the beams (tegoles) side by side it becomes simple to delimite them (cut them) following the profile of the ground / roof, and to arrange them according to the correct slope.
the creation of the family is obtained, removing from the "profile" of the beam, through empty, the parts exceeding the profile of the tile. In essence it is operated by removing the material from a rectangular beam, up to obtain the shape of the tile.

Okay.
I attach the two files in 2013 format.
I can't figure out how to associate the two arrays.

the final family, is a nested family, consisting of:
1) the "sopra" cap made with a generic family of union on path
2) the "under" cap made with a generic family of union on path (in practice the same family rotated 180°)
These families have been nested in the final family, based on "on line", in which the hoods are "managed" with a matrix, which keeping the length of the plug fixed, reproduces it many times (multiplo) according to the length of the line.
Also, at the end of the line there is a subtraction solid, which intervenes to "cut" part of the last stop, if the length of the line is not an exact multiple of the length of the plug.
the family is associated with the surface of another family (host = host) so once imported into the project, it is automatically associated with the surface of the host object (if it is a sloped roof it follows the slope).
the basic family is associated with a material (colonial thela), which in turn contains a "texture". the material, not being "basic" do not find it in the archive.
you can change the associated material, using it another material with its texture, which can also be customized according to your needs

p.s. once laid on the cover, the "wire thread" must be duplicated (matrix) on the whole layer. naurally, the length must be changed by hand (a piece).
to be completely usable, such a family should also have a "lateral" subtraction solid, which in case, the last row cums from the width of the layer, so as to "cut the surplus"
the family you posted has a different logo than the one based on beam....
for the change of form, you must open the basic family (telear below) and change the "profiles" of the union, to make the embryo. This change can make parameters ineffective in nested households.

pps: how is your knowledge of families?

hi, I managed to reproduce the family and also instead of duplicating matrix you can use the beam system. The operation is so fast. on the weekend I will make a video tutorial. I am now facing families, so my degree of knowledge is not high. I bought some text, that am4. I hope in short to achieve good results since the software is exciting. cmq don't seem complex. soon and x the end sett. I hope to post also the family with different materials, so as to realize the multicolor effect or antiqued
