Hi.
in our company we have se17, and we have the archive consisting of 48000 files in 7700 folders and subfolders on virtualized machines with os windows server 2003.
the problem is the extreme slowness with which the assembly opens.
Note that 6 designers access these machines at the same time for the opening of the assemblies.
how can I speed up the extreme slowness of the order of 5/6 minutes.

Thank you very much

if you have an efficient network ( gigabit, and proper performance hub). You might have slowed down due to broken links.

do this test:
copied with rm a local set, try to open it and measure opening times.
then try to detach the network cable (physically) or even disable the connection and then reopen the same together.

If the times are very different and you will feel a sense of formula 1 then they are definitely broken links.

Hi.

I don't understand the "virtualized machines" to what pro?, sorry if I'm curious.

greetings

he's talking about the server, sometimes he's like this for a number of reasons:

1) save a car
2) Save current
2) facilitate backups

Obviously the thing makes sense if the server has to provide services that are among them incompatible at the operating system level: example a server that only works on windows and one that only works on linux.

Okay then: he has a pc with if, that connects to a server that connects to a virtual machine that manages his folders and 5 others... but... If so, it may not be fast... using an euphemism.

No, it's not.
he has solid edge connecting to a server that is actually one of the virtual machines that run on their server. in practice they have several servers that actually turn on one. the method is good if you have several servers (which I know, one linux and one windows, or one mail and other file servers, etc.) but to save you have only one physically. in terms of performance lose little, but use more the machine than otherwise would be discharged in terms of cpu. and it is easier to restore
is the standard method of almost all ceds

exactly how he writes show regarding the server;

in regard to my problem I have made some evidence and I have verified that the slowness that lament is due to the "inter-part" connections of if.
in the incriminated axieme I represented an electric motor with rotor and stator; and for both I represented the plate packs and the copper part using the "part copy" or "part copy" and these relationships increase my opening times from 20seconds to 2/3 minutes.

verifying network activity with task managers you see that there is a period of 5/6 seconds, a latency period of 2 minutes and a last activity of 5/6 seconds that opens the file.

the proof that I have done has been copying everything locally and nothing has changed; only do I eliminate the relations between the parties has solved the problem? ? ?

someone has experience about it; we have if v17-sp13.

Hello and thank you

Did you try to disconnect the network?
These complaints are usually introduced to broken links. result: solid edge you lose in the network to wait response from a pc that is not there.

personal experience: change server name, recapture all links with revision manager. We were actually lost some. and the result was what you described.

Hi.
I'm sure it's not a problem with interrupted links because I copied all the files of the axieme in multiple places and several times: locally, on another server other than the usual one, in another ws; I checked the links and I'm okay.
the only thing that solves the problem is to delete copy links between the parts.

Hi.
Did you try to detach the network cable?

texture links are not manageable by any official tool. if a piece searches for a.bmp texture on a server that no longer exists you will have experience slowing down without any error message.

to solve this problem I created a program that analyzes the open axieme by reporting links of this interrupted type.

Hi.
kinda be_on_edge

today we managed to make a test as you advised;
- together and all the local parts
- with network opening 2 minutes
- without network opening 6 seconds.

In fact, we realized that it was looking for an old server on which 2 years ago all the archive resided. we are checking if it is on and connected on the net.

That program you're talking about is available how.

Hi.
is here on the forum in the solid edge resource post.

At the end I actually created an alias to one of the servers with the name of the old server no longer present.

Hi.
Sorry, but I can't find anything, can you help me? ?
I am not very practical of the cad3d site, thank you very much.
