import an external reference (short) into a part

I try to explain:

I made a tubular frame through the shape making a part where I wrecked the sketch that makes me as a skeleton for the frame and then through a shape command I applied the profile (in my case a frame tube) on that sketch.

Now I find myself a product with two parts: the sketch in one part and the frame in another part with an external reference pointing the sketch of the other part.

Now I would like to import the sketch into the part contain the frame to ensure that this controls any changes to the frame and permanently delete the part that contains only the sketch.

I tried but I couldn't

the command is located in structure design and serves to create iron structures by importing from catalog all kinds of standard beams (it is not part design) but works almost the same way.

you do a sketch and associate us with a type of beam (h l tubes etc.)

copy/paste between the two files, and "replace" command to repiaze the geometry that creates the sweep.
