import and use igs/stp files

I was looking for part files for command knobs, like threads:http://www.cad3d.it/forum1/showthread.php?36756-ricerca-file-part-di-impugnatura-joystickI recovered directly from the manufacturer the files in igs/stp format, but I have problems using them with inventor 2010: they amount but I see them "empty", and in the table they do not appear (see attached images); also trying to open them and save them individually as inventor file the situation does not change.
Do you have any suggestions?

in the table, go to the browser on the view that interests you, with the dx key selections " displays all surfaces ".
That's why it's an unclosed surface.
I can't import the step, otherwise I tried to close it.

tried, but inventor 2010 doesn't open it to me.
I still solved with the other suggestion, thank you.
