import dwg files

Good morning, everyone.
I am doing an internship in which I am using for the first time revit (version 2009 architecture), of which I do not know practically anything except the basics. . .
My problem is as follows: I have to import dwg files and I would like to put them somewhere so that I can make them visible but not editable and realize a 3d using them as a base...the problem is that I don't know where to put the imported files and how to make them visible but not editable. . .
