Good morning to all,
I need to convert different files from solidworks to parametric 2.
the news found around are discordant. some say that a solidworks license is necessary (which I would like to avoid), others say that from version 2 I could import them directly.
Does anyone of you have experience with this?

if I do not create 2.0 read the solidwork but I do not remember until which version (maybe 2013). s.w. license is only necessary if you have to modify native s.w. files. I'll check it out.

Do you have to take a direct ride? because if you're aware of neutral files maybe I can give you a hand (for free of course).

What version of swx?

hi hunter, unfortunately they are files that come from the outside and that we should open in creo parametric.
the supplier simply provided us with a light test assembly.

Hi.

time ago with creo 2 I had a similar problem (opening a solidwork file) but I had to desist.
to run everything you have to ask for a "free license key" but (must be a solidworks customer).
with the 3 I still have to try (with catia file native catpart works).

Sorry I'm late, but I had a problem with ptc. I finally managed to get my software licenses, version 2, which I was entitled to make a new installation "clean". this because it seems that by installing over ptc also solidworks explorer (free) it is possible then to import into ptc parametric 2 in an almost transparent way. not working I suspected that the strongly custom environment of our customer affected everything (addressing the setup itself is custom).
problem: now being no longer in support contract ptc does not allow me to download the software from the site. only contract users. as to say: you have the right to license but I don't give you the software anymore.
I downloaded with good torrent but obviously I abort versions with illegal outbuildings and so I did just setup the program that doesn't make sense without installing the ptc license manager or flexnet ptc version first.
to finish the tests and finally give you a complete feedback, clean and hopefully positive, I need a strictly original cd ISO of the ptc for create parametric 2 (complete of flexnet) that, among other things, we were not delivered even in the period when we had the support contract and the retailer... No longer exists.
I contacted ptc and the answer you know, I contacted a new ptc supplier and the answer... She's not here yet.
Can you help me with that? :-/

summarize my experience.
I installed create 2 parametric and so it is unable to import native solidworks files.
I subsequently downloaded, for free, "solidworks explorer" and installed it. a quick search on the internet to find it on the official website.
attention: solidworks explorer must be exactly in the same version, 32 or 64 bit, of the ptc creo 2 parametric, previously installed.
At this point I create 2 p managed to open assembly files or prts of solidworks simply loading them as normal files. In practice, the extension between the loading filters was added.
against: it is exactly like the import of a step. no history, no feature no constraints.
pro: I imported everything without any mistakes whatsoever.
I'm documenting to evaluate any converters that may prove to be able to import at least the history but this will be another topic.
