import step files as part set

I can't import a step file consisting of multiple parts and created with tink 3
as a whole of parts to all the effects of inventor.
once imported the object is saved as ipt file consisting of multiple parts but not manageable,
I can't even make them visible or not, I can only eliminate them or suppress them.
Am I wrong?

visibility, repositioning etc.
