Hello I am a mechanical engineer who is looking at the use of ansys 14.5 workbench.
I have issues importing stp files or igs into ansys. during import ansys recognizes the defined surfaces, but not the volumes between two surfaces.
for greater clarity I attach the sections obtained respectively in pro/e of the piece and of the same piece dissected in ansys.
I tried on another computer to save the cad models in the parasolid format (.x_t) and in that way in ansys and in that way the problem is solved! Unfortunately for my job I have to use a computer that does not have ansys license to work on parasolid files.

Do you have any idea how to solve the problem?

Hi.
but can't import the x_t from the computer that has the ability to do it and then save the ansys file?

Hi.
but can't import the x_t from the computer that has the ability to do it and then save the ansys file?
Thank you for your answer.
I have already tried this road but it does not work, because while saving in workbench always recognizes me the native file in x_t and cannot import it the same while missing the license.

other tips?

That's weird.
I'm using 14.
if from solid edge amount a solid and then save the generated file in ansys, the reopening does not go to recover the solid edge file. maximum, if you change the path of the solid edge file, it tells you that it does not find it but the model in ansys is already built.
he warns you that, in case you want to upgrade the license, you need the original file.
Look, if you want me to pass the step, I convert it to solid edge and I create the model in ansys.
see you, but I use the 14... but it is not a problem for you to open it in 14.5
Bye.
ps. I have design space!

I apologize for the delay in the answer but I was on vacation.

the problem was that pro/e exported the file incorrectly.
the surfaces were not closed (the problem was in threading part of the piece) so not recognizing closed surfaces ansys did not create me solid.
the parasolid model the problem had not but I am not an expert of the various formats so I could not provide the solution to that dilemma.

thanks in any case for the help

Bye to all,

I don't know if it's the exact post (if it wasn't, I would kindly ask to be re-indirect to the correct one), but I also have problems with importing (direct) from proes and also from creo.
spiego: I tried to configure the cad configurator manager of ansys 13, inserting the directory of the bin folder where the .exe file of proe (and then also of parametric), however when amount in the workbench the .prt file and start design modeler, when I try to generate the model gives me "attach failed" (on design modeler).
What does not happen if I use solidworks, but it seems to me that the connection between the two programs is more direct (ansys and sw).

If anyone knew how to help me, I'd be very grateful!
