hello, as from object I have a problem with these files.
I need to import stl files and then edit with sw, to do this I bought a plug.in from the sycode "stl import" but I can't, on import, in sw, appears for a few seconds the solid but then sw crashes.
have you had experiences with these files?
Is there another way to transform them to use them with sw?
Thank you and hello.

is called reverse engineering the operation you ask.
I believe that swx can upload files of unrelevant entities but cannot edit them.
you can ask someone (we do it but do not want to influence you with my opinion) to reverse it and return the data in the form of file step, iges or parasolid.

In fact, the import standard of sw generates an un editable file.
we can't figure out why this sw plug.in crashes.

simply because swx at the moment is not made for reverse.
serious reverse applications cost a lot of money, it's hard for them to offer you something like "for free".
If you need... I'm here.

the fact that it is not free, we bought a license for 7gg already two
times.

Good morning.

can be that the sl is optimized. can be finally that some triangles are degenerate and this could be due to errors

you can download meshlab for free http://meshlab.sourceforge.net/with this free opensource software you can try to put your hand back to the slate and lick it, even qualitatively

As for conversion to surfaces there is a moneyworks module that does this. for creating basic surfaces could be enough. I think I remember seeing it in the premium version. I don't remember the name though...

It's a special 86000 triangle anatomical.
geomagic and pro/e open it without problems.

I suppose then that opening a 2mln file of faces and 1mln of vertices is practically impossible with solidworks(a file containing ironman I wanted to see)?

if the changes are few and simple the most logical is magics
:finger:

Get rid of practically.
try downloading the demo version of geomagic, it works for 30 days and then only as a viewer.
for geomagic 1-2 mln of triangles are manageable.

I have solved this way:

download free utility stl2step and import stl file
transform into step
import into solidworks
if the file is too heavy to pass for another program and export to parasolid

download free meshlab utility and import stl file (the same can be done by rhino)
transforamre in dxf
import into solidworks as part 3d (to leave the surfaces click no)
