Hello.
we must update pro/engineer.. .
the possible alternatives are several... .
However... I assume a full compatibility of import of files from pro/engineer... because I don't want to do anything.. .
What would you do if there is a better present state?

"The mistakes made by young people are paid by great"
if you have pro-e and want to keep the historian, don't lose data, don't be mistaken to re-model or lose the chance to change what you've already done... the road is upgrade to creo
any other road may perhaps bring you long-term benefits, but immediately you pay it in terms of time necessary to go to regimen and loss of historical data

Wrong assumption! remain in ptc and do not do anything, opupure change cad and do everything again.

amen!

I imagined it and what I always answer to any seekers of new customers.... I have pro/e and change possible I do it only if you convert me to 100% guaranteed the archive... They all quit...
because in the world of unification, even on 3d formats, does not create one? I always wonder.. .

I can close... It was to see if someone knew things unknown to me. . But I'd say the soup doesn't change.

I don't think I did it because you had chosen pro/e in 1996-97 and then it was the only parametric cad entirely 3d... the only a little in competition was the autodesk with mechanical moving the first steps, but it was still far from the pro/e...
so it is not that much could be done, all current competitors were still coming. . .

I don't mean pro-and it's a mistake. it was simply to say that the choices made at its time, surely to seen ragion, lead to consequences that they pay and propagate for years.
pro-e in '96 was one of the few modelers worthy of that name on the stage. alternatively there was catia, with all annexes and connected. autocad was at the dawn. inventor didn't exist. swx had recently looked at the market. There were minor cads, maybe specific, but who really trusted them?

but are you so sure that the recovery of the historian is so fundamental to bind for the rest of your life to a system that does not suit you? sure that old stuff can't be handled by step/dwg and metadata recovered by existing distinct? depends on what kind of work you do. I've been used to work with 50 different cads and the methods are found, then it's worth seeing. Surely the issue of features or constraints is very marginal, much heavier to have to recover any anagraphic info present in 3d files.

I am absolutely satisfied with pro/e, (discussed but I do not get used to it!), it was so, given an investment to be made in update I was evaluating to take a look around... but if I think I'll remake the corporate database... No thanks!
already' we have used years to remove us of "half" pro/intralink (thank you ptc!:mad:) that for the cad sto so... now enough pdm... I don't want any pro/intralink surprises and I've been the second one to get us screwed... So now management detached from the cad! returning to the general speech was so to ask... So I stay where I am!

to the speech of the choices, we have thrown many cads to say to manage the parametric, but after they have failed in many (and one there is also we!), so after the mechanical passage (deludent then!!! a mechanical cad that does not allow to make threads... no I am not joking!!!), the passage to the hour expensive pro/e was obliged to not take any more tricks. . .

I conclude the topic... I'm where I'm the question and I was born so to see if anyone knew more about me for a possible change... but I concluded that the situation is as I know it.
