Hello everyone,
work with proe wf 4.0 & 5.0 from one year (mainly surface modeling).
for linear structural simulation and not (without contacts) use straus7. to have a .stl starting mesh valid in rhinestone I use a very powerful software (semi-automatic) for creation of .stl valid with triangular elements that respect certain shape factors (e.g. the relationship between smaller angle and larger angle greater than x). This software is called magics:http://www.materialise.com/materialise/view/en/2408555-magics.html at the moment therefore the situation is this:
proe (licenced) -> magics (taroccato) -> straus7 (licenced).
magics costs about 4000 euros + 1200 annual maintenance.
as we would like to perform simulations with contact and regularize the licenses I thought of these three possible solutions:

1) proe -> prom (to be purchased)
(2) proe -> prom (to be purchased) -> in the nastran fx for promechanica (from acquistare)
http://www.smartcae.com/it/elementi-finiti-fea/nei-nastran/pro-mechanica3) proe -> nastran fx (from acquistare)
http://www.smartcae.com/it/elementi-finiti-fea/nei-nastran-fxin terms of cost, good results for simulations with contact and cad-cae interface that does not predict mortal jumps for cleaning models what do you recommend? Is there any other solution?
Thank you.

p.s: to me the promechanic post-processor sucks. apart from the graphics, if I care to have an excel export of the voltage of von mises of some elements (eg those that belong to a cutting plane) I can not do it. I often have to calculate the average voltage in some sections (working in the elasto-plastic field of the punctual values I slam) and therefore excel or similar reworks are fundamental to me. other key question is: "What is the percentage of the area of a section (or volume of a portion) that plasticizes?" with the post-processor nastran can I have these values? I hope I send a demo as soon as possible.

Hello mad76,

Are you sure that in the nastran do it for you?

What do you want to study contacts?

innastran has greater potential than prom at the contact level and for all non-linear analysis, but it is also less immediate to use (prom is integrated into proes, while innastran you should use it via fx nastran interface).

I'm not sure that prom manages plasticization (it certainly didn't do it until wf4) but I don't exclude attachments in wf5.

ps: advantage in favor of neinastran: smartcae is constituted by technicians strutturisti with in-depth exposition in the simulaizoen fem, while (at least for my experience) the skills of ptc dealers are mainly related to cad.

Thank you for your information. I am going to post a simple example of promechanics with contact to see if someone can help me. but cannot here edit a message already posted? Thank you.

no, the messages are blocked after 15min.

If you are interested in a comparison with neinastran (if the example is simple and quick!) I can give you a hand.

Hi.

Yes! Thank you very much. The example is in a new discussion I created this afternoon.
