Bye to all,
I just signed up, so I apologize if my question will appear banal or repetitive (I looked in the old discussions as suggested, but I found nothing similar to my question)...
I was following an exercise found on youtube about creating a 4-way connection, but when I had to use the trimmed surface command, I realized that this command is not active (before not selectable).
the version of my swx is 2011

Could any of you support me? Thank you very much.

I'm sure I'll put it under.
read the file:
you only have bodies (solids), of surfaces not even shadow, therefore inactive function.
to transform a face to surface you can use the command, in the toolbar surfaces, offset surface.

Are you sure you're doing the tutorial to the letter?
I find it strange that you came to a point where you have no function
suitable to continue.

I believe the tutorial is this of prampolini:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pistq48cadcactually to have available surface functions you must have created surfaces; with solids do not work.

follow exactly the tutorial, there starts immediately with the surfaces, solids just do not use them.

... that then that chord I would do it differently, faster and with fewer functions is another speech:biggrin:
those "video lessons" serve just to experience the functions and there is good that "they are taken away" just to learn. then with experience solutions become multiple and more targeted.

Thanks for the advice. I'm probably the one who's messing up. I think I followed the tutorial. .
Thanks anyway and excuse the trouble.. .

try to read in the first solidworks tuturials, or in the help of solidworks the differences of the various environments (normal, surfaces, sheet, welds), then move to the next level of the tests with the clearest ideas:biggrin:

thanks for the advice...probably I'm the one who makes confusion...and even I seem to have followed the letter the tutorial.. .

Yes, look at 1:04....
Don't apologize.
