I have a solidworks license at work, I tried to install it at home on my pc to do tests.

It's possible.
When you purchase a license, you also have another one to install (not at work) to download from the license server. in this case you do not need to "download" the work license on the server and then "download" it on the home computer. At least that was when the new server-based license was introduced directly by dassault.

The second license is not "productive" and can't be used at the same time, it's a "cortesia" for those who work from home or need a laptop temporarily. It can also be used in case of "emergency", for example, your pc dies and you haven't been able to download the license and the hotline is not available to unlock it: In this case you can download it on a "mulet" and leave immediately.
